On May 7, 2018, the first Spartan of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic landed at the airport in Trenčín. Based on an agreement between our company and the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic, LOTN has provided a hangar for periodic and troubleshooting work on C – 27J Spartan aircraft.
The purchase of two C-27J Spartan transport aircrafts was carried out in accordance with the Concept of Development of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic. The supply contract was signed in 2014. The new machines replaced the already decommissioned AN-24 and AN-26 aircraft. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic will thus not lose the capability of transport aviation with a transport capacity that they have not temporarily had since the decommissioning of Antonov-type aircraft.
In addition to a 3-member crew, the new C-27J Spartan will carry 46 professional soldiers. The advantage is also its use in domestic crisis management. Within it, it will be possible to use a transport aircraft, for example, for the transport of the wounded, as well as for the transport of material for supply purposes or for firefighting.
